Montreal dance-pop sister act Idie & The Mirrors have recently uploaded their video for the song “Fall,” and we just love it! The girls have a very special show going on tomorrow July 7th at Newspeak in Montreal to Launch their new EP. I thought I’d ask them a couple questions about what inspires them, and what fans can expect from the live show. Jessica and Sara Taddio have been in the music game for a while, and I’m happy to see them still producing great work. Jessica’s big voice blasts just like Lady Gaga’s and with the back-up of Sara’s piano skills and the slick production of the new track, this EP is surly going to be killer.
Interview with Idie & The Mirrors
LADY INDIE: Hey Jessica, can you tell us a little bit about what inspires you most?
Jessica Taddio: Architecture, imagery and art really inspires us. We love to connect with visuals and sound to evoke an emotion.
LADY INDIE: What’s the best and worst part about being in a musical group with your sister?
Jessica Taddio: Best is that we are sisters, we cant hide we cant run from each-other. We have such a understanding for each others weakness and strengths. The worst is that music can take a toll on our sisterhood and sometimes we lose sight of the fact that its not about music all the time. We need to schedule Sara & Jess time.
LADY INDIE: What is the meaning behind the song “Fall” ?
Jessica Taddio: The meaning is just that you cant ever take a persons words at face value. Fall is about feeding into what you want to believe and hear and just being kinda desperate about it too! Its kinda pathetic! its meant to be a self-talk reflection based on ones thoughts inside their head.
LADY INDIE: What can fans expect on the night of the launch at Newspeak in Montreal?
Jessica Taddio: I think people can expect an interactive show. There will be lots of visuals we hope will get people in tuned with what we were thinking when we created the music. It will be loads of fun!
LADY INDIE: What are some of this year’s plans for Idie & The Mirrors?
Jessica Taddio: After the launch head back to the drawing board and see where the wind takes it.
LADY INDIE: If you could recommend one other artist/painter/photographer that you think people need to hear about, who would that be?
Jessica Taddio: Lisa Forese, we were friends since elementary school! She has been drawing ever since, she is now such an incredible painter. We are really proud of her.
LADY INDIE: What is one thing you never head on stage without?
Jessica Taddio: Ummmm interesting question! Im really boring and i’ll try to make a joke… a microphone! :) I don’t really have any good luck charms so thats pretty much it!
Sara Taddio: hahahah my sister!
LADY INDIE: If you could collaborate with any other musical artist in Montreal, who would that be and why?
Jessica Taddio: I really love A-track! I like his vibe and think his music can kinda mix with ours. I love how he uses a lot of 80’s inspired sounds and I love the 80’s! So I think it would be cool.
Sara Taddio: I love him too, right now I am really loving Braids.
